Kirsi Gum is a costume designer and an artist with unique abilities and expertise in a wide array of expressive forms. As a Costume Designer she holds MA and BA degrees from Aalto University, Finland and she has built an impressive resume in film, TV, theatre, dance, underwater productions, commercials and other types of artistic and performative productions. Kirsi gives talks and lectures as well as mentors students and young professionals.

Kirsi's work is visually distinct and conveys deep meanings regarding the human condition, cultural realities and issues related to personal and social identities. Her practice is based on continuous observations and research on people: Individual and communal responses to cultural phenomena, their environments and relations with other people and species. Each project she undertakes explores how humanity and human experiences gain presence in films and materialise in the characters and shapes we create.

Working in greener, more sustainable, and more ethical ways is a foundational priciple in Kirsi's work. As her aim is to influence and contribute to the industry and culture of film and TV productions to transition into more sustainable and ethical practices, this is not just a method of working, but a basic and foundational orientation for all the work that she does (please read green and sustainable productions statement below).

Kirsi's presence is often characterized by energetic positivity, efficiency, and professionalism that are contagious and her work is consistently well reviewed across the spectrum. She loves what she does and lives through her work, always aiming to learn, grow, progress, and evolve through each endeavour.
